“Live a life you will remember”
Who are we?
We are Mark and Floor, and after working for many years as a project engineer and in the cinema/education sectors, the urge to completely change direction grew during the time spent working and staying at home during the Corona pandemic.
We then set out to find what our dream would be. We agreed that it should be in nature, that we could provide service to guests, and that these guests could also enjoy what nature has to offer. And because we had already fallen in love with Hungary, it became the perfect combination: starting a campsite in Hungary, surrounded by beautiful nature, with a strong focus on service. And so, we did just that. In 2022, at the ages of 32 and 28, we sold everything in the Netherlands and moved to Hungary to make our dream come true.
Why the name Kugundua?
‘Kugundua’ means ‘to discover’ in Swahili. Swahili is the native language of Uganda, the country where I (Floor) volunteered a few years ago on a project that provides shelter and education for orphaned children. In Uganda, we have a sponsored child named Joy. We’ve had the privilege of visiting Joy several times and are fortunate to still have regular contact with her. Since Uganda was one of the starting points for our journey of discovering the world, and because we want to help our guests discover the beauty of Hungary, we chose the name ‘Kugundua’.
