Welcome to our first blog about the progress of the campsite. The title ‘Second chance’ might sound a little strange, but it actually fits perfectly with where we are right now.

Retrospective

In recent years, we've been busy renovating the building where the toilets and showers will soon be, as well as our reception area. The exterior has also had a major facelift, essentially a complete refurbishment. A covered terrace was added, and the entire building received a new plaster finish and a fresh coat of paint. Step by step, we've seen our plans become more and more of a reality.

And then... everything suddenly stood still.

Moving forward again

Our dream was on hold for about eighteen months. Due to an administrative error by the government, our details couldn't be entered into the system, and as a result, our company couldn't be officially established. Something we had no control over, but which halted everything.

Last August, there was finally good news. We received an official document with many stamps and signatures. At that moment, it was finally happening: our company existed. Time for a celebration!

Not moving forward after all

Unfortunately, in the months when the building was idle and not being used, it turned out that downtime also meant deterioration. Despite everything being new, several problems began to arise. Cracks appeared in the plaster coating of the exterior walls, tiles were coming loose and leaks started to appear inside from the roof... In this state, we obviously don't want to open.

Renovating again

Therefore, at the end of 2025, we made a difficult decision. We decided not to open in 2026 either. Instead, we will have part of the renovation redone, this time with a different construction crew. We have now started the renovation with them, with mixed feelings and renewed trust.

With mixed feelings, we also had to choose new colours for the outside walls, new tiles and spend a lot of money again.

In the coming period, we want to regularly share the progress of the campsite via blogs. This way, you can follow along step by step as everything is rebuilt. And we'll seize this second chance with both hands!
