Active

Relaxing at the campsite and being active in the surrounding area is the perfect combination. There is plenty to do around Camping Kugundua. Enough to keep you entertained for the time being. See below for a small selection of options. Of course, feel free to ask us for activity tips during your stay at the campsite.

Thermal baths

Hungary may have the most thermal and medicinal baths in the world. These springs have a history that spans over 2,000 years. The Celts already referred to Budapest as "Ak-luk," which literally translates to "Abundant Waters." In the region around the campsite, there are a number of wonderful thermal baths to enjoy, including one built in a cave. This can be found in Miskolc.

Hiking

For hiking in Hungary, you don’t need special skills or experience. A basic level of fitness and sometimes a bit of determination is really all you need. Want to climb a mountain? Or explore a cave? Walk through the forests or along a river? There is so much to choose from…

Castles

Hungary has fewer castles and fortresses compared to countries like the Czech Republic. This is because, after the Wesselényi Rebellion, named after Ferenc Wesselényi, the Habsburgs blew up many fortresses and castles. This took place at the end of the 17th century, after the departure of the Ottomans. Nevertheless, there are several castles in the region near our campsite that are definitely worth a visit...

Cycling

The possibility for cycling in the area around our campsite is endless. Cycling on the asphalt is possible, but this often takes place on (busy) roads. Drivers in Hungary are very considerate of cyclists and are required to maintain at least 1.5 meters of distance. There are also many unpaved roads, some more accessible by bike than others. But once you've found a nice path, it's a joy. Mark can help you map out a beautiful cycling route in the area.

Fishing

Vissen in Hongarije is op zeer veel plaatsen mogelijk. Er kunnen meer dan 80 soorten vis gevangen worden in Hongarije. Het meeste wordt er in Hongarije gevist op Karper. Om te mogen vissen is er een landelijke vergunning vereist en dan nog een regionale. De landelijke is het gehele jaar geldig. De regionale maar voor een korte periode, dag of week. Beide zijn meestal te verkrijgen bij de visplaats, anders bij de plaatselijke VVV (Tourinform) of in de grotere plaatsen bij MOHOSZ, dit zijn informatiebureau’s van de hengelsport.

Stalactite caves

In the area around our campsite, you can find several stalactite caves. The most famous and largest one is located in Aggtelek National Park. The stalactite caves in Hungary are very impressive and special to see.
